Amazon River

This bend in the Amazon River is in the Loreto Region of Peru.

This portion of the waterway, running through one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the Amazon Rainforest, runs just south of the city of Iquitos.

Just like in Brazil, parts of the water are dark blue, while others are a sandy white. When the two converge, a distinct line is formed.

Questions:

Why is there such a distinct color difference between other rivers near the Amazon and the Amazon itself and what happens when they meet?

What role is climate change and pollution playing on the Amazon River and the rainforest?
